Does this mean I have to create a custom redirect for EVERY link in the email so that I can see how many clicked on what? Seems silly to have an email automation program and it not tell me which link got the most (or the least) clicks

Prospects would not go in reverse to previous steps, so you’ll want to make sure those triggers are in place early on. If you miss that during early setup, then perhaps: reduce the wait time on the tag step (so prospects can move along), add your new trigger to listen for clicks after that step, and then follow that a new tag step with an extra-long wait.

It depends on how many other steps/emails you needed that group to go through. If they only missed one message, I’d suggest a list email for that group as a quick fix. If there was more complex logic to follow, then putting them in a new engagement program makes sense.

Adding a new suppression list would have similar effect. A suppressed prospect would not continue in the engagement program. If un-suppressed, they would pick up where they left off.

This is a real tough one. If they drop from the dynamic list, there’s no way for the engagement program to update that field again. But an automation rule could do it. I could see using e.g. a repeating automation rule that would check for membership on the dynamic list, and then handle the field updates as a sort of “back-up” option. All these moving parts might be more complicated than the value they add, but it could be worth an experiment!

Question on the 365 hold (love this trick!) Are the trigger steps retroactive? For example, if I launch a program with a single email send and the 365 hold, but then I want to segment based on specific link clicked, will the system go back and look for that action if it happened within the program, or is it too late, since they’ve moved on to the hold? Thank you!

In the event this happens, what do you do? The only solution I can think of is copying those prospects to a new list, and then creating a duplicate program, and starting it with what would have been the next email they should have received. Is this logical or am I just creating more of a mess? I’m guessing there’s no way to fix my current campaign for that group of prospects.

Hi Mike, Related follow up question for you. What if I add a new suppression list to the engagement studio after it has started? Would it work the same way?

I have two emails at the end of the campaign that I don’t want prospects on a specific list to get (although I would like them to get all the rest of the emails). My thinking was that I could add a new suppression list after the early emails have gone out, but before the final two to prevent those individuals from getting them). Would that work as I am envisioning?

I’ve got a dynamic list of people who get fed into the program, but I could really do with a way of excluding those prospects from other lists only while they are actively within the program. I’m currently updating a field at the start and end of the program to indicate they are currently within it – however if for some reason they get pulled out half way through due to not being on the Dynamic List anymore, that field won’t get updated. Any thoughts?
